How privacy works
How does HaloCrop process an image without uploading it?
HaloCrop is a browser-based circle image editor that keeps the selected image on your device instead of sending the file to an image-processing server. It opens a temporary local reference, draws the crop on a canvas, and creates the download in the browser.
What happens inside the browser?
The browser first creates a temporary object URL for the selected file, then draws the image and your crop settings onto an HTML canvas. When you download the result, the canvas is converted to a Blob and saved through another temporary browser URL. This is why the editor can work without an account or upload queue. The website itself still loads normal HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and image assets from its host, so “local processing” describes the contents of the image you choose—not every network request made while visiting the page. You can review the implementation details in HaloCrop’s About and Privacy pages.
Where can you verify these browser features?
MDN documents the same browser primitives in its references for object URLs, the Canvas API, and Blob objects.
MDN describes a Blob as “a file-like object of immutable, raw data.”

Good to know
Questions, answered.
Does HaloCrop upload my photo?
No. The crop happens locally in your browser. Your image is not sent to or stored on HaloCrop servers.
Will the corners really be transparent?
Yes. PNG exports keep the area outside the circle transparent. You can see the result on the checkerboard preview before downloading.
Can I use HaloCrop on my phone?
Yes. The editor works in modern mobile browsers. Choose a photo, drag it into position, and download the result.
Is HaloCrop free?
Yes. The core circle crop tool is free to use, with no account or watermark.
