Why it exists

Small image tasks should stay small.

A circular photo is useful in dozens of places: profile pages, team directories, community avatars, presentations, podcast artwork, and brand assets. Yet a simple crop can still mean opening a large design app, learning controls that are not relevant, or uploading a personal photo to a server just to get a basic result.

HaloCrop was created to remove that friction. It concentrates on a narrow set of circle-image workflows and gives each one practical defaults. You can position the subject, adjust zoom and rotation, choose an output size, add a background or halo ring, and download the finished file. The goal is not to replace a full photo editor. It is to make one common job clear, quick, and dependable.

What happens when you choose an image?

The editor uses standard browser features to complete the workflow on your device.

Your browser opens the file

The selected JPG, PNG, or WebP is represented by a temporary local browser URL. HaloCrop does not send the image to an upload endpoint.

Canvas creates the crop

Your position, zoom, rotation, background, and border choices are rendered with the browser's Canvas API.

The browser makes the download

The finished result is converted into a temporary browser Blob and downloaded directly to your device.

A useful distinction: the editor does not upload the contents of your image. Like most websites, the hosting layer may still receive ordinary request information needed to deliver the page, such as an IP address and browser details. See the privacy policy for the current data-handling summary.

Private by default

If an image operation can run in the browser, it should not need an upload. Local processing also removes the wait for a server-side editing queue.

Useful before clever

Controls are selected for the result people came to make. The interface avoids extra layers, filters, and features that would distract from that task.

HaloCrop aims to explain what the tool does in plain language, use semantic page structure, and keep the core workflow usable across modern desktop and mobile browsers.

The project is developed iteratively. Search behavior, real usage, technical checks, and direct feedback are used to decide which improvements are worth making next.

HaloCrop is an independently maintained web project. The current version is free, requires no account, and does not include advertising or payments. Those details are stated here so you can judge the service as it exists today, without invented company history or vague promises.

Bug reports are most helpful when they include the browser, device, image format, and the result you expected. Please do not attach a sensitive source image unless it is necessary and you are comfortable sharing it.
